Freedom of speech and press freedom are increasingly under threat around the world. Political pressure on and violence against journalists are on the rise. Fact-based journalism is also being undermined by the notion of “fake news”, while social media provides an avenue for public confusion and hate speech. Is freedom of speech, as one of the foremost fundamental rights, eroding? What risks and threats are free speech and the free press facing in modern society, and how can public policy address them?

Katja Gloger, Board Spokesperson from RSF Germany, is one of the panelists and will discuss with Hatize Cengiz, Frank Plasberg, Matthew Caruana Galizia and Lina Al-Hathloul.

When: 27th November, 5.00 - 7.00 pm

Where: Hertie School, Forum 1st floor Friedrichstraße 180, 10117 Berlin
