Erastus Asare Donkor ist ein erfahrener Investigativjournalist und Dokumentarfilmproduzent mit mehr als 15 Jahren Berufserfahrung. Sein Schwerpunkt liegt im Bereich Umweltjournalismus, wo er an vorderster Front die verheerenden Folgen des illegalen Goldbergbaus für Ghanas Umwelt aufgedeckt hat. Seine Recherchen dokumentierten die Zerstörung von Waldreservaten, die Verschmutzung von Gewässern und die sozialen Auswirkungen des Bergbaus auf lokale Gemeinschaften. Durch seine Arbeit kam es unter anderem zum Abzug von Militäreinheiten, die illegale Minen im Apamprama-Waldschutzgebiet bewachten.
Für seine journalistische Arbeit wurde Erastus vielfach ausgezeichnet, darunter 2022 mit dem Titel „GJA/PAV Ansah Journalist of the Year“ und 2025 dem Präsidentenorden „Order of the Volta“ sowie dem Environmental Heroes Award. Nationale Anerkennung fanden auch seine Dokumentarfilme “Destruction for Gold und Poisoned for Gold”. Neben der Umweltberichterstattung recherchierte er zudem zu gesellschaftlichen Themen wie Kindesmissbrauch und trug zur Verurteilung von Täter*innen bei.
Nach seinem Studium an der University of Ghana und der University of Cape Coast absolvierte Erastus Fortbildungen bei renommierten Institutionen wie der BBC und der Deutschen Welle. Heute ist er als stellvertretender Nachrichtenchef bei Multimedia Group Limited in Kumasi tätig.

Erastus Asare Donkor is a seasoned investigative journalist and documentary film producer with more than 15 years of professional experience. Specializing in environmental reporting, he has been at the forefront of exposing the devastating consequences of illegal gold mining on Ghana’s environment. His investigations have documented the destruction of forest reserves, the pollution of water bodies, and the social toll of mining on local communities. His work has yielded tangible outcomes, including the withdrawal of military personnel who had been protecting illegal miners in the Apamprama Forest Reserve.
Erastus has received multiple accolades for his work, among them in 2022 the GJA/PAV Ansah Journalist of the Year Award and in 2025 the presidential Order of the Volta, and the Environmental Heroes Award. His documentaries, including “Destruction for Gold and Poisoned for Gold”, have gained national recognition. Beyond environmental issues, he has also reported on pressing social concerns such as child abuse, contributing to the conviction of perpetrators.
Holding academic degrees from the University of Ghana and the University of Cape Coast, Erastus has further enhanced his expertise through training programs with esteemed institutions such as the BBC and Deutsche Welle. He currently serves as Assistant News Editor at Multimedia Group Limited in Kumasi.
