Nazira Darimbet ist eine unabhängige Journalistin aus Kasachstan mit mehr als 18 Jahren Erfahrung. Nach ihrer Arbeit für Internews Kasachstan widmete sie sich insbesondere dem investigativen Journalismus, Datenjournalismus und der Faktenprüfung und veröffentlicht regelmäßig in der Plattform Respublika. Sie berichtete unter anderem aus der Ukraine, wo sie eine Reportagereihe produzierte, und untersuchte Grauexporte aus Kasachstan – dokumentiert in der Studie „Leaky Border: How Gray Exports Reach Russia Through Kazakhstan”.
Zudem erhielt sie eine Förderung der US-Botschaft für das Projekt „STOP FAKE: Debunking the Myths of Russian Propaganda”, das auch in kasachischer Sprache erschien. Bereits zuvor hatte sie ein Stipendium des ICFJ für die Recherche „REAL WAR: What Kazak people have to know About War in Ukraine” erhalten, das russische Propaganda offenlegt, sowie an einem transnationalen Projekt mit kasachischen und tschechischen Kolleg*innen teilgenommen: „The Road to Europe: How Karlovy Vary Became a Paradise for Some Kazakhs”.
Als Fellow des Prager Zentrums für Zivilgesellschaft war sie an der Studie „Survival Matrix” über das Überleben unabhängiger Medien in autoritären Systemen beteiligt. Derzeit arbeitet sie im transnationalen Projekt Rupep.org, das Profile kasachischer Politiker*innen und Beamter erstellt.

Nazira Darimbet is an independent journalist from Kazakhstan with more than 18 years of experience. After working with Internews Kazakhstan, she has focused on investigative reporting, data journalism, and fact-checking, publishing regularly in Respublika. Her work includes reporting from Ukraine, where she produced a series of features, and an investigation into gray exports from Kazakhstan, documented in “Leaky Border: How Gray Exports Reach Russia Through Kazakhstan”.
She also received support from the U.S. Embassy in Kazakhstan for the project “STOP FAKE: Debunking the Myths of Russian Propaganda”, which was published in both English and Kazakh. With a fellowship from the ICFJ, she conducted the investigation “REAL WAR: What Kazak people have to know About War in Ukraine”, exposing Russian disinformation, and took part in the transnational project “The Road to Europe: How Karlovy Vary Became a Paradise for Some Kazakhs” with Kazakh and Czech colleagues. As a fellow of the Prague Civil Society Centre, she contributed to the study “Survival Matrix” on the resilience of independent media in authoritarian regimes.
Currently, she works with the international project Rupep.org, compiling profiles of Kazakh officials and parliamentarians.
