Zahra Kazmi ist eine Journalistin aus Pakistan, sie lebt und arbeitet in Islamabad. Als investigative Journalistin schreibt sie unter anderem über Terrorismus, Militanz, das Verschwindenlassen von Personen sowie über gesellschaftliche Minderheiten und marginalisierte Bevölkerungsgruppen. Derzeit arbeitet Kazmi als freiberufliche Journalistin für Independent Urdu, NayaDaur Media und die Daily Times. Als aktuelle Stipendiatin des Berliner Stipendienprogramms lernt Kazmi, wie sie sich in ihrer journalistischen Arbeit besser schützen kann.
Bevor Zahra begann, als Journalistin zu arbeiten, war sie für mehrere Nichtregierungsorganisationen tätig, da sie soziale, kulturelle und politische Themen besser verstehen wollte. 2017 deckte Zahra mit einem investigativen Artikel ein großes Korruptionsnetzwerk im pakistanischen Tabaksektor auf.
Kazmi hat einen Master-Abschluss in Politikwissenschaften und veröffentlichte akademische Artikel zu Kriegs- und Friedensforschung in Pakistan. Im Jahr 2018 war Kazmi Co-Autorin eines Forschungspapiers zum Thema "The Nexus of Governance and Conflict in the Federally Administered Tribal Areas", welches auf einer Konferenz der Hans-Seidel-Stiftung vorgestellt und in deren Jahreszeitschrift veröffentlicht wurde.

Zahra Kazmi is a journalist from Pakistan residing in Islamabad. She works as an investigative journalist on terror, militancy, missing persons, minorities, and marginalized community issues. Kazmi currently works as a freelance journalist for Independent Urdu, NayaDaur Media and the Daily Times. As a current fellow of the Berlin Scholarship Program Zahra learns how to protect herself better digitally and how to provide more security for her journalistic work and research.
Before starting her job as a journalist, Zahra worked for non-government organizations to better understand social, cultural, and political issues and contributed to different local newspapers writing about diverse topics. In 2017, Zahra wrote an investigative story exposing major corruption in Pakistan’s tobacco sector.
She holds a master’s degree in political science and published academic research papers on different topics such as war and peace in Pakistan. In 2018, Zahra co-authored a research paper on 'The Nexus of Governance and Conflict in the Federally Administered Tribal Areas'. The paper was presented at an International Conference by the Hans-Seidel-Foundation and published in their annual journal.
