Holmes Chan ist freier Journalist aus Hongkong und Stipendiat des Berliner Stipendienprogramms von RSF Deutschland. Chan berichtet vor Ort über Politik, Recht und Kultur aus Hongkong. Im Jahr 2019 berichtete er als Senior Reporter der Zeitung Hong Kong Free Press über die historischen pro-demokratischen Proteste. Außerdem hat er über Menschenrechtsthemen in China geschrieben.

Als Stipendiat des Berliner Stipendienprogramms nahm Holmes am RSF-Workshop "Building Digital Security for Journalists" auf dem Internet Governance Forum 2020 der United Nations teil und sprach dort über die Herausforderungen für die Pressefreiheit in Hongkong. Chan hat einen sowohl einen Bachelor of Arts als auch einen Bachelor of Laws der University of Hong Kong.

Holmes Chan is a freelance journalist from Hong Kong and is currently a fellow of RSF Germany's Berlin Scholarship Program. Holmes provides on-the-ground coverage of politics, law and culture in Hong Kong. In 2019, he reported on the city's historic pro-democracy protests as a senior reporter at Hong Kong Free Press. He has also written about human rights issues in China.

As a fellow of the Berlin Scholarship Program, Holmes spoke at the IGF 2020 Workshop “Building Digital Security for Journalists” about challenges to press freedom in Hong Kong. He holds a Bachelor of Arts and Laws from the University of Hong Kong.
